The TLIF technique offers a unilateral approach to the disc space. This posterior approach offers many advantages compared to traditional interbody fusion techniques, such as unilateral facet resection and preservation of the lamina. In addition it minimizes dural retraction, and reduces the risk of intra dural scarring.
