Fitting of the grommet requires a precise press-fit. It must be accurately centered, otherwise it may impinge the cortex in the intramedullary canal on one side and could cause bone resorption. Unless the shoulders of the grommet can be fitted into metaphyseal bone, rotation of the grommet could occur. |
