With the Standard Würzburg Plating System, Leibinger in 1985 created a standard in craniomaxillofacial surgery based on miniplates introducing titanium as the ideal implant material. The system can be used for the treatment of all kind of trauma of the facial skeleton, and for orthognathic and craniofacial reconstructive surgery. The wide range of 20 different plate configurations, ergonomically designed instrumentation and the design of the implants make the Standard Würzburg System still one of the most utilized implant systems worldwide.
