S.S.T.® Small Bone Locking Nail

Biomet, Inc.
Closed intramedullary nailing techniques have largely replaced the use of plates and screws in the treatment of long bone fractures. The use of rods or pins in the forearm or ankle is not a new concept, however, there has been no way to lock the pins or hold them in place. A common worry associated with a non-locked nail is back out of the implant.1-2 The SST® is the first, small diameter intramedullary nail for the forearm or fibula that combines the advantages of a closed operative technique with proximal and/or distal locking capability.
