The Memory staple is a secure osteosynthesis device developed to provide stability at the site of circular-shaped osteotomy for phalangeal shortening. The compressive construct is designed to provide initial stability, and ensure immediate and safe functional recovery. The Memory staple has a built-in elasticity which imparts dynamic compression, even when secondary osteoporotic resorption occurs at fragment ends. The staple is formed from a NiTi alloy 5 and is supplied in its own holder
